Remember our hummingbird and it's baby that we discovered in our front yard last year? Well, we're not sure but that baby friend may have come back to our tree this year. We have had so much fun this spring watching the birds' nests in our trees. We had 3 this year. Two Doves' nests, and this adorable little tiny Hummingbird nest. The tiny little nest was about the size of a golf ball and was the lowest down so I was able to get some great pictures. We watched everyday as the mother sat and then when she was away we would peek in at the tiny marble sized eggs. Then one day the eggs were hatched and we got to watch the two tiny little hummingbirds each day as the mother would come feed them and they grew and eventually outgrew their nest. One day as I was trying to take a few pics of the babies, one of them got startled and hopped out of the nest and fell on the ground. Eventually it made it over to a bush where it hung out for a few days and then learned to fly just enough to make it back into the tree. It was amazing to see the mother bird and how she would protect and feed the babies and to see the little babies grow and learn to fly branch to branch in the tree. The kids would get so excited everyday to peek on our little friends and it was fun to see their reactions as we watched the birds grow. I love spring and the new life that it brings to the earth! (notice the color change in the tree as the birds got bigger) It was so much fun having our little fuzzy friends in our tree each day as we would come home and Zach and Kali would run over to check the tree to make sure they were still there. They are gone now and we miss seeing them but who knows...maybe they might miss us too and come back next year to our tree!
